Coy Gaines Obituary

Coy White Graham Gaines passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at the age of 84, in her hometown of New Albany, MS. Born on March 7, 1941, in Prentiss County, MS, she was the cherished daughter of Jessie Sylvester Graham and Alma Lou White Graham, both of whom preceded her in death along with her loving husband Jessie Duke Gaines, her siblings Yvonne Graham Brooks, Patsy Graham Moody, and Troy Ellis Graham. Coy spent her life surrounded by the laughter and joy of her family. She is survived by three devoted children: daughter Elizabeth Ann Gray (married to Jerry), and sons Jesse Doyle Gaines (married to Rita), and Kenny Lamar Gaines (married to Amy). Coy's legacy extends through her five adoring grandchildren, Tiffany Halls, Tyler Gray, Melissa Walker, Amanda Mansel, and Kayla Cole, as well as her cherished eight great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable happiness. Her working years included time as a diligent homemaker and valued employee at the Irwin B. Schwabe Shirt Factory. Though her work was important, she found her greatest fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. Coy's interests lay in the beauty of nature; she was an avid gardener, took pride in her yard, and loved the company of her books. Moments spent watching hummingbirds dance around her garden were among her favorite. Those who knew Coy will remember her as the epitome of love, gentleness, and friendliness-a woman whose heart was as open and warm as her smile. While her family and friends will miss her deeply, her tender spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have felt her kindness and warmth. Coy's enduring love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always serve as a testament to the extraordinary person she was. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Jerry Bishop and Bro. Mark Tutor officiating. A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tyler Gray, Tim Halls, Randy Brooks, Jerry Gray, Colton Bailey, Josh Steele and Jerry Brooks. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
