MARY MEACHUM Obituary

Mary Jean Stovall Meachum was born February 11, 1942 to the union of Leonard Nash Stovall and Lou Ellen Wade Stovall in Verona, Mississippi. Mary accepted Christ in 1988 at Good Shepherd Church of God in Christ. She loved cooking, growing flowers, and raising children. She collected dolls, loved praising God, and was faithful until death. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 6:30 AM, Mary went home to be with the Lord at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lou Ellen Stovall; four children, Cynthia Diane Kimble, John Allen Dillard, Sharon (infant), and Angela (infant); two sisters, Lorene Stovall and Gloria Stovall; two brothers, William Stovall and Leonard Stovall, Jr.; She leaves to always cherish and remember her: her children of Pontotoc, MS; her three biological daughters, Shirley Harper and Ruby Riley of Pontotoc, MS; Mary Alice Montgomery (Tommy) of Ecru, MS; two sons, Terry McShan of Lee County, MS and Charles McShan (Karen); Sonja Carruthers (Kelvin); Karneisha Beckley and Brandon Beckley (Jarvis Hill, Serena, Quay, and Azaria); Superintendent Robert Fleming, Sr. (Shirley); 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 30 great great grandchildren, a very special young lady that called her "GiGi" Sariyah Buggs, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Funeral service will be Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Good Shepherd Church of God in Christ, 184 West Bolton Street, Pontotoc, MS.
