Machele Akers Obituary

66 of South Charleston, WV passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 5, 2026.

Machele attended South Charleston High School and worked as a caregiver for many years. She had a deep love for Shabby-chic decor, painting, cooking, sewing, cheering on the Mountaineers, and showed an endless compassion for animals.

Machele was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Jean Wilson, great grandchildren, Lanie and Grayson DeMarco and her pride and joy, Boston Terrier, Bull "Dozer" Akers.

She is survived by her children: Barbara Akers Bragg, Nicole Akers Adkins, Lloyd (Jacqueline) Akers Jr. Grandchildren: Morgan Akers, Mallory Bragg, Madison Bragg, Joshua Hill, Josie (Chris) Ryan, Dylan Williams, Donald Bonenberger, Ashley Akers, Lloyd Akers III, Jacqueline (Anthony) DeMarco, Jackson Akers, and Sophia Akers. Great-Grandchildren: Raelynn Bays, Noah Hill, Shiloh Norman, Jacob Scraggs II, and Roman Ryan. Siblings: Jenny Farmer, Steve (Melissa) Hapney, Pam Shinault, Daphne Hapney (Leslie) Rutherford and Robert-"Bobby Joe" (Whitney) Hapney. Lifelong best friend, whom Machele cared for deeply, Bambi Slack.

Machele was a born again christian and never missed a chance to tell others about Jesus. We will see you again in heaven one day, so until then, enjoy your heavenly reunion with all your family and friends, and most of all Jesus!

The family has chosen to do a Celebration of Life which will be posted at a later date.
