Elaine Godbey Obituary

Elaine Marie Godbey of Hilldale, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the age of 83 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a long illness. Born in Liberty, NY on December 27, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Gladys Depuy. Elaine was a devoted wife and mother and was a member of the Rollynsburg Baptist Church in Talcott. She enjoyed working puzzles and watching old westerns. Elaine spent some of her spare time crocheting, gardening, and reading. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ansell Godbey; son, Denver Dwayne Godbey; daughter/granddaughter, Breanna Godbey; sister, Betsy Kehoe; two brothers, Robert Comfort, Jr. and Dale Depuy; son-in-law, Jeremy Carpenter. Those left to cherish her memory include her four daughters, Cecelia Fox of Hilldale, Greta Brown of Jumping Branch, Bonnie Ward (David) of Hilldale, and Reba Godbey (Jimmy) of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Nikolas Carr, Devin Brown, Justin Godbey, Trevor Godbey, and Briyonna Godbey; two great granddaughters, Terra and Janelle; niece, Krystal Comfort, and her loving fur baby Sierra. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery at Powleys Creek. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday at the Funeral Home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
